They cover: Learning Outcome 2: Understand how campaigns are used to elicit change  AC2.1: Compare campaigns for change The exam board expect students to compare a minimum of at least 5 campaigns for change. Here I have covered 4 campaigns for change which act as good models to set students up with their own research. There is an activity sheet (I printed this out in poster format so that students could fill it in as we went through the campaigns in lesson) that details how to tackle each campaign. It is important to note that students must break down each campaign by discussing: What it was about/what started it The purpose of the campaign Whether or not it was successful What other campaigns it can be linked to

A lesson power point and student booklet has been provided so that students can follow along by taking part in the written tasks/activities. The lesson resources address the following objectives: *Explain the rules of evidence in relation to relevance and admissibility *Describe the rules on disclosure of evidence (and exceptions to the rules on hearsay evidence) *Support your answers with legislation and cases

There are also a couple of videos for students to watch within the PP which helps them to visual the use of Lay People within the Criminal Courts.

This power point is what i use on open days to quickly run through with parents and potential students. It explains what Criminology is and how the course is broken down. I do a quick and fun “sample activity” at the end to give students an insight into the course. I have found this useful -rather than explaining to each person what Criminology is. Hope this helps!

They cover: Learning Outcome 1: Understand the Process of Criminal Investigations AC1.4 Examine the Rights of Suspects in Criminal Investigations The resources cover PACE 1984 and look at the influence of the Human Rights Act and how there must be a balance between police powers and civil liberties. I covered the rights of suspects with students and got them to research witnesses and victims in their own time. The booklet can be used in lesson and then the student can use it to equip them when writing up their controlled assessment. I tend to send the booklet power point to reprographics and they staple it into a booklet format for me :)

The Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. This is an Introduction Lesson to Unit 4. These materials include a power point, a student booklet and a key terms sheet. This lesson provides a grounding for students to work from given the fact that this unit is legally focused. In order to understand the various topics covered in this unit, it is important to be aware of the basic law making concepts so this intro lesson lightly covers the following areas: How the UK country is run (the three powers) What law is defined as (and why we need it) Where laws come from (sources of law) Is punishment necessary? (Lady Justice) The student booklet is in power point format so it is easy to send to reprographics to run off as stapled booklets. I have told my students to take the booklet home for a frame of reference so when, for instance, we start judicial precedent and they forgot sources of law, they can just refer to the booklet as a reminder of some of the basics. Learning Outcome 3: Understanding Measures Used in Social Control AC3.1: Explain the Role of Agencies in Social Control The lesson power point covers an introduction to the new learning objective along with activities, tasks and research. The Criminology textbooks focus on facts of the social control agencies (which the students can easily read as homework), therefore I have focused the lesson on HOW social control is achieved by these agencies as this is what is required for the exam (if you look at the sample questions and mark schemes). Therefore, I have made it explicit to the students where/how each agency achieves control. I have covered: The CPS/The Police/The Judiciary/Prison Services. I have tasked students to cover the Probation Service and Charities & Pressure groups within their booklet on their own so they are not completely reliant on me during the lesson and to help keep up engagement. I found it useful to cover a little on the Separation of Powers theory first -particularly when it comes to the Judiciary as this really helps students to understand the evaluation points that come later in the unit. They cover the following lesson objectives: Identify the meaning of the term ‘causation’ in criminal liability Explain the rules of ‘causation’ using supporting cases Apply the rules of ‘causation’ to an exam scenario I have included differentiated activities; there is a stretch and challenge exam question for most able and then a set of mini scenarios for least able. The resources are aimed at A Level Law students studying Contract Law and cover material needed for a general introduction to contract law and what legal ‘intention’ means. Included within these resources is a lesson, PP booklet students can fill either on -line (or you can print it out for them), key terms sheet and a case list. I have also included an A03 evaluation template that students can use once they have covered contract law. The essay questions require them to evaluate (any area could come up) so I find this a useful reflection activity.
